Mindfulness, Self-Regard, Meaning in Life, Satisfaction with Life.
Results shown are from a USAID funded study to determine the
efficacy of an InHappiness laughter-assisted behavior change program
in a highly stressed group of healthcare workers providing care to
adults and children infected/affected by HIV and AIDS.
Baseline results were taken before the program started and again
periodically over six months. These results from detailed and validated
measures are in keeping with results from hundreds of other highly-
stressed groups.

Customer Satisfaction
Interviews with managers and participants highlight
dramatic improvements in relations with customers in both
customer service and sales environments.
In healthcare dramatic improvements in happiness and
reductions in stress and depression are reported in adult
and child patients. Benefits include improved relationships
with care providers, family and friends, improved
adherence to medication and treatment, improved health,
and greater self-care.
Why are these Results Important?

Mindfulness improves problem-solving, improves concentration and
focus, helps us achieve greater clarity on what is happening in our minds and
in our lives, and helps us to reach goals and make better decisions.
It reduces selfishness and makes us more considerate, empathic,
compassionate, sensitive and flexible in relationships. It promotes
acceptance and non-judgmental behavior (Halliwell, 2010).
In the workplace mindfulness make employees more resilient in the face of
challenges, increases task performance and employee well-being (Glomb, et al.

Self-Regard indicates an ability to look at and understand oneself,
respect and accept oneself, and accept one’s perceived positive and negative
aspects as well as one’s limitations and possibilities. Its is an important
workplace attribute and a cornerstone of good management.

Meaning in Life is recognized as a major contributor to happiness
(Seligman, 2004) and flourishing - a human condition that maximizes
performance and productivity (Seligman, 2012).
The feeling that one’s life and work has meaning builds engagement,

Satisfaction with Life indicates a love of one’s live and feeling that
things are going well. Growth and challenge is often part of the reason for
life satisfaction. People with high SWL scores tend to be excellent workers
with high productivity and performance.
