Founded in Mumbai India in 2007, InHappiness (International Happiness Institute) is a non-profit now working from Johannesburg, South Africa to provide evidence-based positive psychology programs that counter stress and depression and build health and happiness, mainly to AIDS orphans, PLWH and their caregivers. Proceeds are used to provide health and happiness programs to PLWH, cancer, mental and physical disability, Alzheimer's, caregivers, and others in need. Sponsor Circle of Happiness Programs InHappiness is a non-profit cooperative. Any funds we earn after expenses are directed to providing happiness programs to HIV orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), people living with HIV and other conditions, and their caregivers. The money we earn is not nearly enough. More than 30 million children on the African subcontinent have lost one or both parents to AIDS. Many of these children are traumatized. We see kids who are withdrawn and seldom laugh and play. Many live in foster homes where they may not enjoy the love and nurturing essential to a happy healthy future.
These children are experiencing levels of stress and depression that
may stunt their childhood. Studies show that childhood stress,
depression and trauma can lead to serious lifelong mental and
physical health problems. Happy Healthy Kids We deliver Aerobic Laughter Therapy to orphans and vulnerable children through daycare and after-school centers.
● Stress, depression and trauma quickly reduce, and children become happy, playful, outgoing and able to show affection for others ● Quiet, withdrawn and lethargic children become happy and active ● They start taking pride in themselves and their appearance ● Disciplinary problems and bullying quickly reduce or disappear The kids have a daily 20 minute Aerobic Laughter therapy session every morning with all their teachers. Within a week they start competing to lead the exercises, and impromptu sessions are started by kids throughout the day. What the teachers say: " Wow, the children have changed! There was a little girl who never laughed or smiled and now she’s laughing. The kids enjoy it, they even lead the exercises." " It’s fantastic! Before some kids were reserved and quiet - they came from home with lots of stress and were quiet in the morning - now they start laughing in the bus in the morning. Before many went quiet on the bus home - now they're still laughing when they get off the bus - you see beautiful smiles. It has really changed them. " " The kids are much happier. After laughter therapy they are elated, loud and happy and sweet and giggling. They have a new confidence to express themselves in loving ways and a new confidence to do so. They’re much more loving. I get lots more hugs and kisses than before. It’s really impacting on them in a positive way. " " The kids are so happy now.
